Suspected Boko Haram gunmen kill 3 in Borno State

Suspected  Boko Haram sects have struck in Bornu again, when they  stormed New Marte, Marte Local Government Area of Borno State this weekend, killing  a Police Sergeant  and other two civilians.

The Divisional Police Headquarters, Cocin Church and the residence of the Unit Commandant of the Army were all set ablaze by the gunmen. Also razed in the attacks were Five vehicles parked within the police premises.
Relatively, two people were reportedly killed, yesterday, in Ummarari and Gwange wards of Maiduguri metropolis by some unknown gunmen.
Dailypost had gathered that suspected terrorists had followed their victim to his house at Ummarari ward and when he was about entering his gate at about 7:30pm, shooting him on his head and other parts of his body. The man has since been confirmed dead.
It was gathered that the attack in Marte started when gunmen invaded the area in three Golf saloon cars and eight motorcycles, leaving the residents to scamper for safety as heavy gunshots and explosions took over the area.
An eyewitness, who escaped at the whisker told newsmen in a telephone call that “the terrorists overpowered the police and other security agencies as both the police and the army ran out of arms and ammunition during the four-hour battle with the attackers.
It was revealed that communication problem frustrated the security operatives who would have succeeded in tracking down the criminals. It was stated that there was a break in communication amongst security agents in the state, and unfortunately the terrorists succeeded.
Confirming the incident, a senior police officer who does not want his name to be mentioned told newsmen that there was an attack in New Marte over the weekend by some gunmen where a police officer and two civilians were killed.
