Nigeria Immigration Service, has repatriated 112 illegal aliens from Gombe State to their countries of origin in the last eight months.
Comptroller of the NIS in the state, Alhaji Yunusa Aliyu, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Gombe on Tuesday that the exercise followed a ministerial directive.
According to him, security service chiefs in the state will embark on another round of operation to identify illegal aliens.
Aliyu said most of the aliens repatriated were Nigeriens in Gombe and Akko local governments.
He said, “Initially, most of the people we repatriated were from Niger Republic , but now with the situation in Mali , we are having problems of Malians.
“These Malians are mainly on transit, but that does not mean that some of them are not around here.
“They are in transit to where? Some of them are coming here through Adamawa to Cameroon .
“So, that is why whenever we apprehend them, we make sure we take them out to Cameroon border until we hand them over.
“We have been having Malians, one or two, but in the past one or two months, we have seen series of them coming on transit.”
Aliyu called on the people of the state to assist the service to ensure security in the country.
