SSS data leakage: PenCom denies responsibility

Pension Commission of Nigeria, Pencom, yesterday, denied being responsible for the leakage of State Security Service, SSS, data on the internet.

PenCom  which  is responsible for the management of the Federal government worker’s pension funds said that it was unfortunate fro people to think the way they think, noting that it will be totally unwise and unprofessional for the commission to begin to work against the interest of other federal government agencies.
Rumour hit the news stand last week that about  60 current and past SSS staff and their immediate family members were exposed to some Boko Haram supporters who further divulged their identities to the sect members.

It was further revealed to dailypost that the data of the sss seen on the internet was similar to the details they gave when they were filling their forms for the pension funds.
In a swift reaction to the claims, Head of Communications of Pencom, Mr. Emeka Onuarah, told news men yesterday  that the commission did not feel bad over the withdrawal of SSS from its pension scheme to warrant toying with the data it might have supplied.
Onuorah said, “Pencom does not have any reason to be angry with a fellow Federal Government agency. Once an order has been given by our employers it is mandatory to carry it out happily. There was no bad blood in the first place to warrant any action.”
The media head equally denied that it’s data was confidential, apart from the fact that it had never been in possession of the data belonging to the SSS family members.
“We don’t have the data of SSS family members as claimed and we want to make it categorically clear that the information said to have been displayed on the unnamed website did not emanate from Pencom,” the spokesperson further affirmed.
